#BlackComicsMonth: Megalyn Echikunwoke Voices Vixen in the Upcoming Animated Series



The voice of Vixen has been cast, finally! Megalyn Echikunwoke, known for her roles on the 4400 and CSI, will be voicing Mari McCabe.


A young woman named Mari McCabe, aka Vixen, discovers that a mysterious totem she inherited from her now-deceased parents bestows magical abilities. Joining Vixen in this 6 part animated series are some of the cast from The CW’s Arrow and The Flash. Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen), Grant Gustin (Barry Allen), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak) and Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon). In the TV Guide tease, Marc Guggenheim speaks a bit about what to expect from the Vixen animated series, premiering on the CWSeed during the summer. Check out the full tease below.

Vixen will be a six-part origin story set in Detroit and each episode is only 30 minutes. As stated above, the characters from “Flash” and “Arrow” are prominently involved. It’s in the continuity and the world. Vixen represents magic, whereas The Flash is Science and Arrow is Crime, Guggenheim says that Vixen has a big magic component.


Official synopsis:
Originally from Africa, Mari McCabe’s parents were killed by local greed, corruption, and wanton violence. But the orphaned Mari refuses to succumb to the terrors surrounding her. Inheriting her family’s Tantu Totem, Mari can access the powers of animals-anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. As Vixen, she fights valiantly to protect the world from threats like those that claimed her family.
