Let me preface this feature with how I came across this webcomic. A few weeks ago, I started joining ComicTalk which is a Twitter chat that is hosted by Jamie Me. As I was scrolling through the hashtag, I found these beautiful pages of Myisha Haynes’ webcomic, The Substitutes. Right then and there I knew I had to feature her during #BlackComicsMonth. Here’s a preview of The Substitues, check out what grabbed me below.
Here’s a little bit about Myisha Haynes, for more insight on her you have to stay tuned to BlackComicsMonth.com. There will be an interview with Myisha Haynes that will be posted later on today.
The Substitutes is Myisha Haynes’ first webcomic. When not crafting fictional worlds and surfing Pinterest, Myisha works full time as a games artist, and occasionally knits her friends lumpy hats. She earned an MFA in Visual Development at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and a bachelor’s in English at University of California, Santa Barbara, (but still somehow is a questionable speller). She loves fall and winter, but is also from California, and therefore has no idea what a real winter looks like.
The Substitutes are update biweekly: every other Tuesday, with February 9th being the next update.
You can follow The Substitutes at thesubstituteswebcomic.com and follow Myisha Haynes on Twitter at @palaceofposey.
