#BlackComicsMonth 2016 – Day 25 – Darryl Ayo – Little Garden Preview

Not only is Darryl Ayo a cartoonist, he’s also very vocal about diversity in comics. His webcomic Little Garden has only been around for a few years, but he’s been drawing the lead protagonist, Angela for over a decade. Here’s how Ayo describes Angela of Little Garden: a very hard worker.

My name is Ayo and I’ve been drawing Angela since some time in 2002. A dreadlocked angel who lives near a body of water called The River of Unforgiven Sin. A couple of years later, in 2004, I began drawing Angela in a series of single-panel vignettes that I eventually titled “Little Garden.” A couple of years after that, in 2007, I brought Angela and her Little Garden friends into the world of sequential art (i.e., “comics) and I have been making Little Garden comics ever since then.

Angela is the first character from Little Garden. She has appeared in almost all Little Garden comics (except for the 20-page short story “Lizzie’s Tale”).

Let’s take a gander at Little Garden from Darryl Ayo and stay tuned for an interview which will be released later on today.
